Architecture Students of President Univ Collaborate with Living Lab to Explore Tourism Potential of Kampung Kunir
On Saturday, 12 October 2024, students from the Architecture Program at the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture (FADA), President University (Presuniv), collaborated with Living Lab at Kampung Kollektief, Kampung Kunir Community, and Nuffic Sea. This activity, supported by Hadi Jaya, the coordinator of the Urban Architecture class, involved 60 students. They observed and analyzed the tourism potential of Kampung Kunir using Kevin Lynch’s urban theories. The students were accompanied by Selly Veronica, Head of the Architecture Program and also the Head of the Center of Innovative Design and Collaborative Support (CIDECS), Presuniv.
Guided by Anastasia Dinda and Iqra Firdausy from Kampung Kollektief, the students explored Kampung Balokan and Kampung Kunir in West Jakarta and engaged in discussions with local residents. They applied Lynch’s urban elements to analyze the spatial dynamics of Kampung Kunir and its connection to surrounding tourism destinations. The findings from this field study will be compiled into a book. According to Selly, the Living Lab initiative provides a valuable opportunity for students to apply classroom knowledge in a real urban environment while contributing to the sustainable development of Kampung Kunir as a potential tourist hub.
